What is RPAC?
RPAC is the REALTOR® Political Action Committee. RPAC raises voluntary investments from REALTORS® and uses those funds to help support candidates for public office who share our views on real estate issues.
By supporting the campaigns of candidates who understand your business, RPAC ensures that your interests are represented when laws, ordinances, and regulations are being enacted.
RPAC is like insurance for our industry. It exists to support REALTOR®-friendly candidates and issues by contributing to the campaigns of candidates who support our priorities – protecting private property rights, protecting consumers, creating accessible housing, and uplifting real estate licensure, just to name a few.
RPAC looks to build the future by supporting candidates that will help advance the interests of real estate professionals.
Where does your RPAC investment go?
Your voluntary RPAC investment is used to support candidates for the Georgia General Assembly, for statewide office (Governor, Lt. Governor, etc.), and for local county and city elected offices across the state. Additionally, a portion of the state’s RPAC funds is forwarded to the National Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee to be used for Congressional candidates.
How does RPAC decide whom to support?
The GAR RPAC Committee consists of Trustees and Alternate Trustees, the committee Chair and Vice Chair and any GAR member serving on an NAR RPAC Committee. The committee makeup mirrors Georgia’s congressional districts. There is one RPAC Trustee and one Alternate RPAC Trustee for every congressional district, and they must live in the district in which they serve. These are the individuals that make the decisions about which candidates to support. The committee is made up of volunteer leaders who are REALTORS®, just like you.
The Trustees make decisions about offices such as Georgia State House and State Senate, but they also assist the local REALTOR® boards in their district by serving as a resource to help boards request RPAC funds for local candidates.
If not you, then who?
REALTORS® must get involved and help shape the discussion. No one knows a community better than a REALTOR®. We know the lay of the land, the families, the best schools, the neighborhoods and the leaders of any given area. We work in every city, county and community in the nation. We are on the front line as defenders of real estate issues. RPAC is the only political group in the country organized for REALTORS® and run by REALTORS®. RPAC exists solely to further issues important to us.
